Food Deliveries Are AMAZING!

Food Deliveries Are AMAZING!

We’re back with another topic in Korea. If you have yet to guess what today’s topic is from the title, then think no further, because we’re going to be talking about the food delivery system.

Everyone has ordered takeout at least once in their lifetime. If not, maybe you have a friend who orders nothing but takeout. In either case, if you love the concept of using the simple and convenient delivery services, then Korea must be like food heaven to you.

Korea’s food delivery system is absolutely fabulous and the delivery itself is pretty quick. There are plenty of apps that you can access right on your phone and order in under a minute. Two of the popular delivery services are Yogiyo (요기요) and People of Delivery, or Baedal-ui Minjok (배달의민족).

Once you try one of these apps, you’ll never want to make life hard by going out to eat again. The service is so good that it’s almost scary. There are days when you just don’t feel like cooking at home or at all. Also going out on a hot day during this terribly humid summer is torture too. The heat is so intense that it’s painful. So go download a food delivery app and order some tasty food.

If you’re not familiar with how to use any of these apps, don’t worry. We’ll give you a basic rundown of how to use one. Our favorite delivery app is Yogiyo so we’ll use this as an example.

Quick Guide to Using Yogiyo

Once you download and run the app, you are introduced to a grid of different types of food that you can choose from. If you’re new, you need to first type in the general area of your location in the search box at the top. After filling that out, take a moment and decide on the type of food that you have a craving for. The app is only in Korean, but thankfully, they do have pictures to differentiate each box.

Once you have chosen your food of choice, it will search nearby restaurants that are able to make the delivery to your location. Pick one place (the star ratings will assist you) and choose the dish (or dishes). Then all you have left to do is pressing the big red button on the bottom, filling out your address and making the payment. The waiting period for the arrival of the food will vary depending on the place. But usually, it takes about 30~40 minutes. It may seem difficult at first, but it’s really simple after you give it a go.

There are so many options to choose from that it’ll take you longer to choose the food than waiting for the delivery. There are pizza, chicken, Chinese and Japanese cuisines, tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes that is a popular street food), and so much more. In addition to the variety of things to eat, there are events that constantly pop up in the app. Sometimes they give you discounts and other times coupons. These events make you use the service even more.

We’ve only briefly explained how to use Yogiyo. But there are other services out there that might be much easier and convenient for you to use. This app just happens to be the one that we use the most. You should definitely try out the other food delivery services because Korea’s delivery industry is the best that we know of. And you never know, it just might be true for you too. Reading this should have made you hungry by now. So go order something delicious to eat on your brand new favorite app.
